As you may know OBDII was introduced in 1996 and, while manufacturers had up until 2001 (on petrol) and 2004 on diesel to make their vehicles OBD compliant, many of them added it earlier.
This means that there are many vehicles prior to these dates that may well be OBD compliant. A simple test would be to check if you have a 16-pin plug
As a general rule the following cars are guaranteed to be OBDII complaint
- ANY petrol engine from 2001
- ANY diesel engine from 2004
